Jay J. Hochfelsen is admitted to practice law in New York and New Jersey in addition to holding various securities and insurance licenses.  Areas of concentration include business and estate planning and employee benefits.  Jay has been active in the financial services industry for more than forty years, first as a senior executive with a major insurance company and then as a partner in an insurance brokerage firm.  He is a principal of Skye Legacy Planning, LLC. and Compass Benefit Planning, LLC. and is involved in strategic relationships with businesses and representatives in the Long Island and New York City financial insurance communities. 

Among his academic achievements are the following degrees: Juris Doctor (Pace University School of Law, February 1981) , Masters in Public Administration (Bernard M. Baruch College-CUNY, August 1977), and; Bachelors in Business Administration (Bernard M. Baruch College-CUNY, August 1975).  Professional designations earned include: Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU), Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC), Chartered Advisor for Senior Living (CASL), LIMRA Leadership Institute Fellow (LLIF), and Accredited Investment Fiduciary (AIF).  With his comprehensive background, Jay can provide professional advise on a broad range of financial topics including financial and estate planning, wealth accumulation and retirement planning, risk management and insurance, taxation and business planning.

Jay has taught at various industry schools and is frequently a lecturer on topics such as medical programs (employer/individual), estate and financial planning, annuity maximization through planning, retirement planning, and elder care.   Jay actively works with charitable organizations such as Cancer Research & Treatment Foundation, Inc. (Cornell-Weill Medical Center), Community Mainstreaming Association/Community Mainstreaming Enterprise, Visions, PHCC Charity Foundation, and NYBKW Charitable Foundation (Cohen’s Children Hospital).  Among the industry and community recognitions, The Travelers Life & Annuity Company honored Jay with their prestigious Quality of Life Award and Visions (an organization dedicated to providing support and services for the visually impaired and blind) presented him with their Community Service Award.
